My plant lost all the leaves in winter. what am i doing wrong? the stem has become brown but it starts to grow leaves on the top.

Not the Zebra Plant I know…

I was expecting your question to be about Haworthia attenuata, which goes by the name of Zebra Plant, but the one you’re referring to is actually Aphelandra squarrosa.

The article doesn’t say much about anything other than getting it to bloom, for which they recommend lots of light. So I’m going to say that your plant needs lots more light just to grow.

You could most likely cut the long stems down to about five inches or so, give it lots of light, and water it, and let it grow.

Keep in mind where it grows naturally which is in Brazil. There, it can reach over six feet in height, so keeping it a lot smaller and happy can be a problem in our homes.
