yet another unknown plant 21602707

We would like to know what this plant is but none of us have any idea.

I have been told that when it flowers, the flower is dark red.

I know very little else about it.

Thanks

Drought Smart Plants reply:
Hi Jim, this looks like one of my favorite species of plants – it’s one of the Sedum spectabile or telephium popular border plants that are grown for their hardiness, reliability and beauty in xeriscaping, butterfly gardens and cottage gardens.

I don’t know for sure which one it will be as it’s hard to tell from just the buds emerging from the ground, but it will be something similar to Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ or any one of several other gorgeous varieties.

Another one of my favorites is Brilliant, which has hot pink flowers with pale blue green foliage, and is a little less robust than some of the others. This one, as you describe the flowers as red could be Sedum ‘Neon’.

Happy Succulent Gardening!
