I bought this from a shop a few months ago because it is striking and I hadn’t seen anything like it. It was not labeled and the shop employees did not know the name. We tried to find it using an image search without any luck. I asked a person who specializes in succulents and they suggested it was a cyanotis, but I don’t think it is. I’d love to identify it so I can find and purchase more. It’s whimsical and lovely. Thanks!

When I first saw the picture, it reminded me of Tradescantia, which, on doing some research is related to Cyanotis.

I’ve never seen this plant before, so I can’t be totally sure, but the way the leaves wrap around the stem are so similar that it must be related. I found a similar plant here.

If you’re patient, it will most likely bloom, which would give you more information.

Meanwhile, start taking some cuttings, which will give you more plants without worrying about the exact genus and species.

By the way, it looks like it needs a bit more light – the stems seem to be stretching and pale.

My mum (a plant lover and collector) said it’s called string of dolphins.

After she got a good look at it, mum said it’s not string of dolphins. Sorry about that.
