It’s no wonder one of the common names is Mother In Laws Tongue!

This is Sanseveria cylindrica, which is not that common, so it’s no surprise that you were having trouble identifying it. You can see more about this genus here.

They can put up with a lot of neglect, as you’ve already noted, which makes them a perfect candidate for planting in public places like atriums and lobbies, where they thrive despite getting no care at all.
