Hello,

I recently bought this plant, and would love to know what it is! It’s about 4″ and has smooth, evenly colored green leaves. The bottom leaves have started to turn brown and die, so I’d especially like to know what it is and how much water it needs.

Thanks so much for your help!
Jesse

Crassula maybe?
by: Jacki

The fact that the leaves are produced opposite each other in pairs up the stem makes me think it’s a type of Crassula. Here are some basic guidelines on how to grow many succulents that are easy to care for.

Keep in mind that the more water you give these kinds of plants, the more they’ll grow, so if you want to keep it small and compact, only water it once a month or so, letting it dry out almost completely in between.

The characteristic of the older leaves dropping off is very common, and typical of many of these related plants. There is nothing you can do about it, except to keep taking cuttings and regrowing them to start anew.
