Unripe Prickly Pears

I live in Las Vegas and harvest the wild Prickly pears every year. THIS YEAR the pears are just getting ripe & some others are still green.

Usually by this time of year (Sept) they have been ripe for months. What is going on? And its the same with the Barrel Cactus fruit only they haven’t even appeared yet. THIS IS CRAZY!!

Blame It

Blame it on global warming.

I’ve seen the same thing in many different ways the past few years; things not ripening, things not blooming at the same time if at all, or blooming twice, butterflies showing up at weird times, and the weather! Don’t get me started on late spring, early winter, and fall that never arrives, or droughts, monsoons, and fires.

I think it could even out eventually, but meanwhile, we have to adapt to it.
