Please help asap! The boys i babysit (very intelligent boys) informed me they had wild onions in the woods behind their house. After ensuring their parents have let them do this before, we gathered and cooked some. I fell really ill that night (nausea, feverish) and after googling i found that there is a plant called death camas that resemble wild onions but are poisonous. Does anybody know how I could be sure of which one it was?

You would already be dead

If it was death camas (Toxicoscordion venenosum) you would already be dead, not just nauseous. The picture you’re showing is neither camas or onions. I have no idea what it is, but generally, you would be best not to eat anything unknown, even if supposedly intelligent children tell you to.

This article compares both death camas and wild onion.

If you are still having issues, please go to your local emergency department, taking some of the plant with you.
