Totally unnatural
by: Jacki
This is Sanseviera cylindrica, painted with orange paint. You can see by the angle of the paint that it was held upside down in a vat of (hopefully) harmless plant paint.
I’ve seen lots of succulents treated this way and I think it’s not right. They don’t deserve to be painted. They’re gorgeous just as they are.
In time, this paint will most likely wear off, but unlike other plants like Echeveria that get this treatment, it won’t grow out. I might try to carefully wipe it off, as covering up the ‘stomates’ in the leaves will inhibit the photosynthesis the plant needs to survive.
Sorry you’ve been sucked in to buying something so misleading – I think this practice should be banned!

Sanseviera – painted
by: Jacki
Someone else asked about this exact plant made to look like pencil crayons, and also displayed in a pot that looked like them too. Totally cute, but in my view, unethical! What plant deserves this treatment?
See more here; Sansevieria – this is the post about this same plant; Succulent with Orange Tipped Fingers.
