I just purchased this juniper from a friend 2 days ago. I have no idea how to care for it, but my gut tells me something is wrong. I was told to water it every 3 days, today was the day – it was just watered. I have found a spider on it, and was worried it had spider mites… however so far only the one. It is also placed in a south facing window. If you have any tips for prolonging this beauty’s life it would be greatly appreciated, I am so worried something is wrong.

Okay, so not only a juniper, but a bonsai too. This adds another layer of difficulty to the growing.

Junipers are one of the toughest plants on earth. They are native to really inhospitable environments, with cold, snowy winters. However, when they’re trained as a bonsai, they no longer have as much toughness. They won’t do well indoors. They need to be outside on a patio for the summer.

Here’s some information on Juniper bonsai.

Regarding your concern about the spider – spiders are not the same as spider mites. Welcome the spider, it will eat the spider mites and most other pests that try to infest your tree.
