Hi
I recently transplanted my crown of thorns plant from pure mud…..I live in Wisconsin…to 1/2 mud on bottom of planter to potting soil on top layer…..I never saw mushroom when I had it planted in mud but now ugggggg….

There is absolutely no way I can help much with this question without pictures. There are literally thousands of different types of mushrooms and fungi.

Generally, the spores of fungi are everywhere, but only germinate in perfect conditions for growth. So congratulations: you have ideal conditions for mushrooms!

Transplant the plant into fresh (pasteurized) cactus soil (not potting soil) and hopefully that will stop it in its tracks. Don’t re-use the soil for anything else, get rid of it in the garbage, not the compost.

(And don’t plant into layers. This just creates trouble with drainage.)
