I bought this plant about three years ago at a home depot or kohls in California… sadly, it withered away after a few weeks because I didn’t know how to take care of it.

It didn’t flower, but it has small fleshy leaves that are light green/yellow leaves that are pink tipped (the pink is deeper on the underside of the leaves). It grew very close to the soil. When I looked for it online, the closest I could find was echeveria pulvinata, but my plant had smooth leaves. The plant is not very tall; I think it only came about an inch or two out of the soil in the pot (my pot was only about 5 or 6 inches tall, too).

Thank you so much I really appreciate your help!

Drought Smart Plants reply:
What a pretty plant! That pink colour with the pale yellow is striking.

I’m pretty sure this is either an Echeveria, or a Sedeveria, which is a cross between Echeveria and Sedum. The unusual part of this is that these two plants, although they are both in the same family (Crassulacaea) they are in different genera. They are so closely related that they can hybridize. Most hybrids are between two plants in a species, not two plants in a genera. Interesting trivia.

I have a feeling that this plant may be a ‘crested’ or ‘monstrose’ type, which would explain the slightly wonky growth habit. The problem with these types of mutated forms is that they aren’t really stable, and can revert back to normal type growth at any time, or they’re just so weak that they succumb to any slight issue with their environment.

Here’s a page with an example of a similar type of plant here: (in a different colour) 8″low growing sky blue succulent

Sunrise
by: Katie L

I too have this plant, 5 or 6 of them actually. The research I’ve done has also led me to believe that this is the Anacampseros rufescens variagata “Sunrise”. Mine are all blooming or about to bloom. They are such pretty succulents. I love how bright the pink/fuscia is.

Definitely Sunrise (anacampseros)
by: Michelle

I am really surprised that drought wise wasn’t familiar with this common succulent….. It is definitely not an echeveria or pulvinata. As a couple other people said, It is the anacampseros telephiastrum “Sunrise”.

I’m thinking you’re giving me too much credit – I don’t know every single succulent on earth. Sometimes even ones that are common in one area may not be particularly popular in others.
