My husband bought me this really ugly green ceramic frog for my birthday one year, and I didn’t have the heart to tell him how much I disliked it.

After hiding it away under the bridge in my garden, guilt drove me to trying to make it a little more attractive. I used a small hammer and very carefully chipped a hole in its back, trying not to break it completely! Then I filled it with potting soil mixed with gravel and planted Sedum and Sempervivum in it.

I actually like it now…

Jan 02, 2011 Warning – sharp edges by: Pete, the Handyman Be careful when you plant this planter frog, as the edges can be really sharp on something that has just been chiseled out – wrap the edges in duct tape to protect your wrists, or wear gloves. Also use safety goggles when you’re chiseling, as the shards can fly a long way. Garden Safe and be happy!
