Hello,

I’ve been growing this type of Squash for several years, but I still don’t know the name of it. The closest I have found are called “Striped Cushaw”…but the only thing in common with mine is the crooked neck. Comparing mine with the cushaws at the Iowa State Fair, I can tell you that mine is much larger, the stripes are different and the neck on mine is much longer and thinner. Could you help me ID my squash?

Thank you,

Craig

Aren’t Plants Amazing?

You may never know what exact type of squash this is, due to the fact that even in the best seed growing conditions it’s possible for a stray bee to transfer the pollen from a different variety close by. This is one reason that seed growers have isolated fields, away from gardens, which usually fixes the problem, but as you may know, bees can fly long distances.

All that to say, sorry, it’s impossible to give you a specific name. Heirlooms are a possibility, so collect some seeds to keep it going!
