I accidentally gently scratched with my nail the growing point of my rhaphidophora tetrasperma cutting and now I’m scared it might never branch! Help!!

Give it time!

Don’t start panicking yet. Give it some time. There is absolutely no point in doing anything, at this point. Please be patient, and let things unfold as they may. I’ve had a plant that got the growing point damaged beyond repair, and it sent up growth from below the soil level!

They have amazing powers of recuperation, if we just get out of the way. Putting a plant on ‘ignore’ for a while can be a sure way of creating the exact right conditions for it to recover. Make sure it’s got adequate, bright light and moist but not soggy soil. Give it at least several months of this, even if nothing appears to be happening.

Oh, and don’t touch it any more. Plants are not like pets, that like to be patted on the head, or have their leaves ruffled.
