xfuzzy-succulent-with-green-serrated-leaves-21501768

I saw this at home depot and loved the velvety-soft, fuzzy leaves, which are medium green and lightly serrated around the edges. The fuzz is white.

The larger, mature leaves (which are symmetrical) all have a pointy tip with four spaced serrations on each side.

The very tips of the serrations appear to be orange or red, but it isn’t very dark–I have a feeling the color may darken or spread as the plant matures, but I’m not sure.

The stems are also green and fuzzy, with the leaves protruding in four directions, with them being tiered so that each level has leaves protruding from opposite sides of the stem.

I feel like I’m not explaining this very well, so I’m going to use a compass analogy to try to clarify.

For any given stem, there will be a pair of leaves with one to the “north” and one opposite it to the “south,” and then higher up (and also below) there will be another pair of leaves with one facing “east” and one “west.” This pattern repeats along the stems.

Any ideas? I’d love any help you can offer.

Drought Smart Plants reply:

That is a pretty plant, Stephanie. Off the top of my head, I don’t recognize it; although it seems similar to some of the Kalanchoe tribe, it also reminds me a bit of the purple plush plant that was so common as a houseplant several years ago.

I’m hoping someone else will show up and say, oh, I know what that is…if you recognize this plant, please leave a comment!

Best of luck with it, and sorry I can’t help you out.

i have one too!
by: Anonymous

I scoured the gallery of succulents database couldn’t find a name or similar picture! I found mine in texas about three years ago and it has grown uncontrollably since! I love it! I’ve eaten tiny pieces of it to build up an immunity in case it is poisonous at all, and so far it hasn’t caused me any percievable harm. Sorry i couldn’t be of more help.

It’s probably not recommended to eat it ~Jacki

Kalanchoe hybrid
by: Rosemarie

I believe your plant is a hybrid of K. tomentosa x K. millotii. It has mistakenly been called Kalanchoe ‘Behartii’ (thinking it was K. beharensis x K. millotii). You can find info online under the mistaken name (Behartii).

I KNOW WHAT IT IS!
by: Mrs. Fuzz Plant

I have a plant that looks a lot like that. they grow very tall; and yes they are fuzzy. They are called “fang” plants. If you are wondering how to care for them, step one is DON’T WATER THEM TOO MUCH! Most succulents die from over watering. Don’t water them much in winter. In the “main” seasons, (spring, summer) water them every 1-2 weeks, if you are concerned because the pot is small, you can water them a bit more, but still… NOT TOO MUCH! Hope this helps…

I have one 1 too! Same deal! I got it at home depot, labeled behartii. I always call it baharati for some reason! Mine actually came with 2, I split them into 2 separate containers and theyre both very happy! But now I’m following this because I had no idea they were mislabeled! By the way, im all the way out in sacramento, California. Where did you get yours?
