All plants lose their older leaves, which of course, are at the bottom of the stem.

This is perfectly normal, and that’s why you often see those long bare stems of Draceana (corn plant) with a tuft of leaves on the top.

This is typical of this plant, which originated in jungle conditions, not the dry air of our homes. They prefer moist air, not dry from an air conditioner, so if possible, rehumidify the air around it with a tray of pebbles that you fill with water to keep the air more humid.

Other causes of leaf drop can be watering with cold water (let it sit overnight to get to room temperature) and use distilled, rain or other types of water (not out of the tap, which could have chemicals like chlorine or other additives).

If you absolutely can’t stand the look of the bare stem, take a cutting of the top growth and discard the lower portion.
