Sempervivum

Hello Jacki, I have just purchased your Selling Succulents course book.

I live in Kelowna and am attempting to establish a Sedum and Succulent micro nursery very similar to what you had in Grand Forks. I have spent the last 2 years propagating mainly Hens & chicks.

My question is “Where can I order hardy succulents for a more varied nursery stock and which succulents would you suggest I start with? Thank you so much for your time and seemingly endless knowledge. I am so excited to get started with my business.

This is where I made up the rules as I went along!

When I got started, there were virtually no sources for any kind of succulents. Now, there seem to be a lot, but in the way of things, they aren’t available in Canada, so I ended up growing my own from seed, and propagating everything I could. In Kelowna, you should contact the people who had a part in the UnH2o Garden, one of whom runs the Xeriscaping Center (or similar name). I donated a lot of plants there, and maybe they would be open to passing some of the babies along.

Other than that, ads in the free classified papers (online) such as Craigslist and Kijiji, as well as Facebook Marketplace or buy and sell groups in your area are good sources. Leave no stone unturned, and good luck with your venture!
