Give your garden birds somewhere to bathe

Birds are a welcome sight in my garden, and I try and provide a place for them to get clean - there's nothing funnier than the first time baby birds find out that water is for more than just drinking.

Place your bird bath where you'll be sure to see it from a window or seating area, and soon they'll realize that you're harmless and splash and bathe contentedly.
Make sure they have a few twigs or small trees nearby to perch on and preen, and protect them by belling your cat so it can't sneak up on them at a vulnerable moment.
