Aglaonema

Can you tell me what is wrong with my aglaonema? Over water? Underwater? I just repotted her from a department store, she is in mild indirect sunlight most of the time.

The problem with plants from a box store
by: Jacki Cammidge, Certified Horticulturist

Department stores and chain stores are not known for hiring professional horticulturists, so they really don't know how to treat plants.

This one, I'm happy to say, looks fine except for that one leaf, which is the oldest, so it's time has come. They don't last forever, especially when they are left in low light conditions, over watered, followed by being dried out. By the time you get them, they've been through the wringer.

It's possible that this damage to the leaf was originally caused by too much sunlight, as it seems scorched.

What you're doing sounds fine, and you should be okay to continue it for a while. These plants are fairly slow growing, so it will be a year or so until it needs a bigger pot, this one should be fine for quite a while.

Something to keep in mind; these plants originate in warm climates, under a canopy of trees. They prefer a composty soil, kept damp at all times, but not soggy. High humidity will help keep her happy too. Try to copy that, for best results and a healthy plant.
