Can you tell me what type of cactus this is?

Hi Darren, I’m going to plead ignorance, because my knowledge of cacti isn’t extensive. I’ll ask a few other more knowledgeable growers if they recognize it.

It does help if you can tell me more about your geographic location (country? Hemisphere?) and your gardening zone if you are able to grow this outside, and where you got it. Sometimes these factors are critical to identifying a particular plant with any kind of certainty.

Hang in there, and I’ll ask about it.

Could be this…
by: Jacki

I just contacted a friend who is much more cactus savvy than I am, and she suggested this:

“Looks like a Fouquieria to me, what species, I couldn’t say. I grow several different species (from named seed) and species is not usually evident til they flower, at a much larger size. These are large desert shrubs, F. splendens is commonly called Ocotillo, and F. columnaris is Boojum from Baja.”

I’m just asking

Is it not perhaps Ceraria Fruticulosa? In South Africa we grow it outside and the stems are thinner.
Perhaps thickened on the windowsill inside?
