weird round cactus or succulent, not sure

by Ruby

I'm not quite sure what this is, but I purchased it at the swap meet a few weeks ago.

Unfortunately I was in awe with the plant itself that I forgot to ask the name of this plant or what type of plant it is.

Is there anyone here that knows what type of plant this is?

Cacti are succulents...
by: Jacki

But not all succulents are cacti.

There are thousands of different kinds of cactus plants, all with their own distinct features.

This one, because of the round shape and the spines seems similar to the Parodia genus but again, in this genus are thousands of species.

If you're going to get into growing cacti, you need a lot of patience to figure out what they are (or get one with a tag so you at least know where to start).

Here is a Bing image search just to give you an idea of the sheer numbers of different kinds.

Good luck with it!
