Cuttings of this plant have been handed down thruough our family for 3 generations. None of us know the name of this plant…can someone please help us identify this?

Drought Smart Plants reply;

This is a common Legacy Plant – it’s unkillable! Some have referred to it as Crassulas revenge on Kalanchoe, or the mother of thousands, as it can become a curse of a noxious weed in the right conditions.

You’ll be safe keeping it as a houseplant, but in warm climates such as Florida and California where it’s hardy, it can spread by seed to rapidly cover a large area. Luckily, it’s easy to pull out as the roots are not extensive.

This is Crassula multicava, otherwise known as the Fairy Crassula, for no known reason except it does have extremely pretty flowers when it blooms.

See more about how to grow Crassula – make sure you scroll through the other links at the bottom of the page, where you’ll find some more pictures of exactly this plant.

Now you know!

Best of luck with your Legacy Plant!
