Possibly a daffodil?

both were growing in my yard, put in a pot because they really didn't look like weeds.

Drought Smart Plants reply:
Hi Virginia, sometimes it is only obvious once the plant flowers, and I think these look like someone probably planted them in the past.

If I move to a new place, or clients want me to redesign their yard, I usually say to wait for a year and see what comes up.

In many cases, long ago gardeners planted bulbs or other ephemeral plants (those that disappear once they bloom in the spring) and if you go and dig them up while developing the yard, you may be destroying a valuable plant.

I would watch these, and see if they flower - you might be in for a lovely surprise!

Best of luck,
Jacki
