Queen of the Night

I’m pretty sure that what you have is Hylocereus undata, or the Queen of the Night. They are also called Dragon Fruit because of the edible fruit, which is only produced after it blooms. Other names for this plant are Red Pitaya, Strawberry Pear, Night blooming Cereus, and Honolulu Queen.

In some areas they grow outside planted in the ground and climb up into trees – this is their favorite situation.

Grown in a pot they need to be root bound to start flowering, which is really an event. The flowers only open at night, and are pollinated by moths and bats if in their native habitat. The scent of them will attract these pollinators from miles around – you may also be awakened from a sound sleep because of it.

Epiphyllum anguliger / Fishbone Cactus

Went out into my garden late at night just to check if snails was around and got the surprise of a lifetime. In the light of the flashlight I saw
this beautiful flower on the Fishbone cactus. I
did not expect it at all! If I did not go at out that moment, I would have missed it, as it was the only time it opened. I want to share it with all who love plants
