Mystery succulent plant... help!!!

Drought Smart Plants reply:

Hi Rif, it looks similar to Sedum kamschaticum based on the arrangement of the leaves, so I would say it's something similar. There are several different types, all with slight changes in their appearance.

If the blooms are bright yellow and start to open in late June to July, then this is most likely what you have - lucky you!

These are great plants - dependable, reliable, and above all extremely hardy.

I would expect that eventually, one plant could make a sizable clump around 30cm across or more, but you can keep them smaller by hard pruning after flowering has finished.

This prevents the one drawback, in my eyes - a bald center. They quickly produce new growth when pruned, and their leaves are always fresh looking.

They have an added bonus - great fall colour! Few Sedum show this intense pink autumn foliage, so all round, this is a great plant.

Happy Gardening!
