In Canada we've been a little bit short changed; colder climate, less sun in winter, changeable weather; not ideal for growing succulents, especially when it's so hard to find the plants, and what you need to grow them successfully.
That's about to change; here are a few pages that I've put together especially for those of us that live in this fabulous country - Canada.
Just because we live in a cooler climate with a lower population than other countries, doesn't mean we should be deprived of this great hobby - growing succulents.
When I first discovered succulents there were very few reliable sources for the plants and virtually no choices for the right soil ingredients. Luckily, now you can access some of the many sources for the necessities.
We have a few challenges here; the sheer size of this country means that sometimes the postage costs are exorbitant.
The good news is that succulents in general can be shipped long distances without soil, to arrive in their new home a little battered and worn but they have the ability to recover fast.
You can see more about the succulents that are available on this page; Succulents For Sale in Canada. I've been asked lots about where to purchase succulents, and here it is.
So what about growing them? The pots, soil and pest control types of things are also available so you can care for your plants properly, especially through the winter.
Nothing cheers the spirits more than seeing how happily your plants make it through the winter, ready for a summer outdoors decorating a patio or deck.
Keeping them under lights is essential, and providing the right kind of soil even more so. There are lots of options from my affiliate here; Succulent Care in Canada.
