Short, crinkly lettuce-type plant

Hi Paul, I have to admit that I don't know what this plant is - are you sure it's a plant, and not moss?? It's so hard to tell from the picture how big the plant is, with nothing to tell the scale of it. Does it bloom, do you know? Anything else you can tell me, like does it like shade? Full sun? Somewhere in between? Lots of water? Drought tolerant? Give me something to start with...
