One day my husband was helping to rip down an old farm house. In the attic he found an old galvanized metal bathtub.

He knew I would be delighted with his find so he brought it home for me. I love old things and decided to use it for a succulent container.

He drilled holes in it for me and I decided not to paint it as I liked the old rustic look. I filled it with good soil and planted some of my succulents.

My fire sticks are just starting to turn orange and the light blue plant is starting to get some orange flowers. It filled in nicely. I had taken this picture the beginning of August but now at the end of August my firesticks are turning orange and the light blue plant has fleshy color flowers on it. Under the plants I have small chick and hens.

I really enjoyed watching my tub grow this summer and I hope you all enjoy my rustic succulent bathtub photos.

Stunning Planter
by: Sally Dubin

The tub lends itself beautifully to the several varieties of the cactus.I’m sure many of these cacti have taken many seasons to develop into the plants they are today. I wonder if this Diana Gamble has many other cactus plants- some folks have a passion for the cactus plants, which by the looks of this planter I’m sure she has. This planter to me is a gentle reminder of days gone by.

Succulents info
by: Dia

I am wondering if succulents last through the Winter?
Love the tub.

Hi Dia, it totally depends on which kind of succulents you have; some are called ‘tender succulents’ which are not frost hardy, but other ‘hardy succulents’ are very sturdy and robust, and in fact don’t do well unless they do have a cold winter rest.

Name of Town
by: Rebecca

I know this is a really old post, but it made me smile to know that there was a town called Moose Jaw, and that someone actually lived there.
