Online Nurseries In Canada
Canadian Sources for Mail Order Plants
There seem to be very few online nurseries in Canada – sadly. I guess in part, it’s because for a good portion of our year, the ground is either frozen hard as iron, or covered in snow, either in the nursery or in the recipient’s garden. This makes it pretty difficult to run an online nursery to sell plants mail order. However, the excitement during the shipping season makes it easier to bear the slow times during the late fall into early spring. Once the ground thaws, and temperatures stay above freezing, shipping takes place in earnest. The mail order nurseries that are listed here are mostly specialty nurseries, growing alpines, succulents, rock garden plants and other small scale plants. There is the occasional online tree nursery selling specially grafted fruit and nut trees that are selected for our northern climate. Bulbs grown and sold online for planting in the fall, spring liners, all kinds of great plants are made available to gardeners all across this great land. Finding a mail order nursery with a wide selection, great prices and phenomenal customer service, as well as excellent quality plants isn’t too difficult any more. If you’ve had a great experience buying plants online in Canada, tell us all about it! Here are some criteria to follow: - Are the staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable?
- Are the plants healthy and happy, ready to grow for you?
- Are they packed to be safe during transit?
- Price is important, but some of the other points above are more so.
