Mountain Hideaway

raised beds in my garden

raised beds in my garden

Living in the bush for the first time in my whole life has been a challenge, and very exciting. Going from living in a condo in Burnaby, B.C. to what to me is an isolated homestead where I spend much of my time without many visitors can be lonely.

Now I've discovered gardening, and I'm loving it. The original garden when I moved here was pretty basic, a few overgrown junipers around the house, a scraggly lawn, and one long rock retaining wall.

In the past few years since getting bitten by the bug, I've built several raised beds surrounded by rocks, and planted many perennial plants.

I'm still discovering what succeeds the best here, as it's pretty dry as far as rainfall goes, so lots of plants that I try either sulk or die.

I've got a long way to go, the same as my garden, but I'm having so much fun!
