Milk Jugs
by Mary
(Surrey, B.C.)
I've used milk jugs, or other containers to water some of my more special plants. I place the container at the base of the plant I want to water, and put a piece of rag or cotton string from the bottom of the jug, up over the edge and down to the ground. This makes a siphon, and capillary action draws the water out of the jug. You have to make sure that the string or rag is wetted when you refill the jug to get it started. I like the feeling of taking something out of the waste stream and giving it another purpose in my garden.
