Grilling Thyme

by Sheila

I found this old BBQ and decided to fill it with drought-hardy plants.

The bottom of the grill is filled with various sized stones, then a layer of sand and finally mulched with red shale for sharp drainage for the Semps.

The shelves where taken off and turned around to make a tray, a few small holes where drilled for drainage, then filled with well-rotted manure, planted with thyme and mulched with small pebbles.

For the winter, we will stack straw bales around it and fill it in with leaves and snow for protection.
