Green-Succulent with tightly curled stems

This one actually looks as though it could be mistaken for a Cactus as the overall shape looks similar to the 'Cartoon-type' but is clearly a Succulent. It grows mid-sized stems from a central bases that open-up at the top

Not a Cactus
by: Jacki

Hi Daniel, this isn't even close to being a cactus - cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti.

This is actually Crassula 'Gollum', or Goblin Fingers, which is exactly what the leaves look like.

These can be variable in the way they form the rolled leaves, but generally they have spatulate ends so they look like the character in Lord of the Rings, Smeagol.

You can see more about it on the Crassula page.

These plants all require similar care; well drained soil, good watering only when the soil is totally dry, occasional fertilizer when in active growth, and bright light.

Return to Crassula.
